The end of life deserves as much beauty, care and respect as the beginning

What is an End-of-Life Doula?

As long as humans have been dying, there have been people who support that journey. An End-of-Life Doula - also called a Companion or sometimes a Death Midwife - provides non-medical support to people who are nearing the end of life and to their loved ones. This support is emotional, practical, and spiritual, grounded in the belief that dying is a natural part of life. Unlike medical professionals, doulas do not administer treatments or make clinical decisions. And unlike close family or friends, doulas can offer a calm, steady presence without being overwhelmed by attachment or expectation.

An End-of-Life Doula can:

•
Sit vigil or offer quiet companionship at the bedside
•
Support planning, paperwork, and funeral arrangements
•
Offer gentle, accessible information about the dying process
•
Hold space for fear, grief, reflection, love -and silence
•
Co-create simple rituals and moments of meaning (for example: candle-lighting, music or poetry, bedside blessings, memory circles, legacy letters or recordings), shaped entirely by your culture, beliefs, and consent
•
Help create a peaceful, meaningful environment for dying

I also support when death is present but not imminent. Many people seek doula support even when they are not dying - because death, loss, and uncertainty touch all of us.

I can help you:

•
Explore fear of death or anxiety about mortality
•
Navigate grief and bereavement after a loss
•
Meet anticipatory grief around diagnosis or change
•
Find support as a caregiver, including rest, resources, and boundaries
•
Begin conversations and planning about wishes and values
•
Create rituals and practices that bring comfort and meaning in daily life

Doulas support people to live fully and die well - on their own terms, with dignity and care. We walk alongside you during this profound time, easing the practical and emotional weight so you and your loved ones can focus on what matters most.
